I can’t hold it in any longer…

One sentence rant, I promise.

Why is Sarah Palin, pro-life to the extent of banning it in the case of rape and incest, pro-forcing women to pay for their own rape kits to the extent that the state of Alaska passed a law to require cities to pay for them just because her town of Wasilla was the only one in the state that wouldn’t and would thus allow incestuous rapists to go unpunished, pro-”hunting” from airplanes by which we mean slaughtering animals from far above with no actual hunt involved in the traditional sense and then leaving the carcass to rot, pro-secrecy and corruption on issues ranging from hiring high school friends to clamming up an investigation after claiming she would cooperate with it in order to delay it’s eventual findings, pro-oil to the extent of handing them a giant check to build a pipeline when the text of the check did not require them to build the pipeline, pro-deficit spending to the extent of putting her state millions of dollars into debt when it had no deficit when she came into office and the same thing was done on a slightly smaller scale in Wasilla, pro-Sports Facility for her town when they didn’t have a sewage treatment plant yet and put the town into debt to finance it, pro-shotgun weddings, pro-Luddite to the extent of believing the world is only a couple thousand years old (and not in the sense of “God is testing our faith by making it look that way” but rather in the “I-literally-believe-the-world-is-only-that-old-and-science-is-wrong”), pro-global warming, pro-polar bear eradicating (she’s been trying to get them off the endangered species list while leaving uncontroverted that their numbers are dwindling), pro-derision of public service such as community organizing, pro-secessionist (yes, as in “wanting to break away from the U.S. and start another country”), pro-earmarks like the bridge to nowhere which she was for until it was canceled (and which she kept the money from anyway), pro-political retribution over personal matters like disobeying her wishes because it was illegal to carry them out, pro-ignorance of foreign policy and pro-pretending that a single day of meeting with foreign heads of state constitutes diplomatic experience, pro-hiding from questions from the public, pro-giving the same stump speech over and over even after the bulk of it has been proven demonstrably untrue (otherwise known as a “lie”), pro-removing gun laws that keep the most dangerous weapons out of the hands of felons and the mentally unstable, pro-tax cuts that help the rich (like on the property and income tax) and pro-tax increases such as on the poor (such as the sales tax) such that actual amounts taxed from lower income citizens of her state increased, pro-pretending that “watching” something without the sound on constitutes “watching” in the sense people normally use to refer to watching a TV show like SNL, pro-torture policies that only make us less safe by pissing off people without giving us useful intelligence that we can use to capture real terrorists and without safeguards to even ensure that we’re wasting our money on torturing a real terrorist instead of wasting it completely and utterly torturing some Joe-Schmoe off the street that got picked up instead completely by accident, pro-corporate welfare for corporations that for years have been taking on risky investments and pro-outrageous CEO pay and pro-golden parachutes of millions of dollars for CEOs fleeing failing companies like rats from a sinking ship, pro-abstinence only so that kids have no idea what makes another kid so they can avoid doing it, pro-utter craziness of declaring war on Russia for invading Georgia after they started something only in response to a situation similar to what led to us invading Kosovo to stop Serbian aggression, candidate for President still considered a viable choice?

I never promised it wouldn’t be a run-on sentence, and I did tag this a “Rant”, so don’t come complaining. And please note I did not knock her being a Republican, as there are many, many Republicans who agree that she is not qualified in any way shape or form. They are ashamed that she has been chosen to represent their party, which they know is capable of much better. And I salute them for standing up to the powers that be in their party to say that they want competence over pageantry, intelligence and experience over crass voter appeal and know-nothing-ness.
